Structuring a Peptide Sourcing Inquiry for Faster Review

Vague enquiries cost time on both sides. Structuring the first message around specification inputs shortens the path to a usable quotation.

Why structure the first message — An unstructured enquiry and a structured one reach the same supplier with the same intent, but only one of them can be answered with a quotation. Structuring the first message is therefore a direct time saving for the buyer.

Lead with the specification — Open with the catalogue reference or the sequence with modifications, rather than with a supplier name or a general description. The specification is the only part of the message that cannot be inferred.

undefined

State quantity and purity together — Quantity without purity, or purity without quantity, cannot be quoted. Stating both, together with the packing preference, allows the quotation to be prepared in one pass.

undefined

State the destination and the document requirement — These two fields determine the shipping regime and the documentation work respectively. Both affect the quotation, so both belong in the first message rather than in a follow-up.

undefined

State the internal reference — A tender number, cost centre or project code lets the supplier reference the correct procurement file on the quotation and the dispatch documentation. It costs one line to add and saves filing work later.

undefined

A usable template — Reference or sequence with modifications; quantity and packing; purity target and method; destination country; documentation format required; internal reference; required delivery date if fixed. Seven lines, and the quotation can usually be prepared without a clarification round.
