Qualifying a peptide supplier

The checks worth completing before placing a first order, set out as questions a reviewer can answer from documents rather than assurances.

01

Entity and traceability

Establish the legal entity, its registration particulars and its registered address before any commercial discussion. Where the trading name and the contracting entity differ, this should be stated in the quotation rather than discovered at the payment stage.

02

Documentation standard

Ask for a sample certificate and the corresponding analytical records from a recent lot. A supplier able to provide a complete set on request is operating a documentation process; one that can only describe it is not.

03

Questions with documentary answers

QuestionWhat to look for
What does a certificate contain?Identity, purity, method, limits, lot number, release date, releasing analyst
How is purity determined?A named method with column and gradient conditions, not a bare percentage
Is a retained sample held?A yes with a retention period, so a later query can be compared
Can documentation be reformatted?Confirmation that an institutional template can be accepted
What are the shipping regimes?Ambient, insulated and cold chain, with the regime recorded on the dispatch note
What happens on a discrepancy?A written review against retained sample and batch records
Who are the authorised contacts?Named contacts with a published verification route
04

Commercial terms

Review the quotation format, minimum order, payment terms, framework availability and the validity period. Terms that are consistent across enquiries suggest a stable commercial process.

05

Verification and impersonation risk

Confirm the authorised contact list and the verification route before transferring funds. Names, addresses and branding are frequently reused in this sector. Bank details should be confirmed through a verified call-back to a number obtained from the supplier's own published information.

Never confirm bank details using a phone number or a link supplied in the message that requested the payment. This is the single most common route by which buyers lose funds in this sector.
06

Intended-use position

A supplier's stated position on intended use should be unambiguous and consistent across the website, the quotation and the documentation. A vague position on intended use is a risk to the buyer's own compliance file.

Request a specification and quotation

Send the catalogue reference or target sequence, required purity, quantity and destination. The procurement desk returns a formal quotation with the documentation package and lead time.
